Turkey: Greens condemn terror attacks in Turkey
Commenting on the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey, Green MEPs Joost Lagendijk, chair of the European Parliament's Turkey delegation, and Cem Özdemir stated:
"We strongly condemn the recent terrorist attacks in Turkey and express our deepest compassion with the victims. The intention of these attacks was to harm the Turkish tourism sector and to disrupt the reform process in Turkey.
"Turkey must not allow terrorism to deter it from the pro-European path to which it is committed. The response to these provocations should be consistent with democratic principles and the rule of law in Turkey.
"The major Kurdish political forces must join in the condemnation of these acts of violence and underline that the only way to achieve a lasting solution for the problems in South East Turkey is through the democratic process."
