Press conference on Alevi sites of worship: Alevi present 100.000 signatures for recognition of their worship sites
Following the European Commission´s report on October 6, 2004, the Alevi Union Europe together with the Alevi Federation of Turkey undertook a signature campaign pushing for the Turkish government's recognition of Cem Houses as Alevi sites of worship.
With this action, we reinforce the Commission Report's emphasis on creating a condition of parity among places of worship in Turkey, among Cem Houses, mosques, churches and others.
We invite you to a press conference on Wednesday, December 15th from 14:30 - 15:00 at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Press Briefing Room - LOW 1 N 201.
At this meeting, hosted by MEP Cem Özdemir, we will present the more than 100,000 signatures to a representative of the Parliament.
